Reforestation
Reforestation in the eastern part of the Island, and the Fonyala forest of ifaty
We devote a great attention to the fact that deforestation is a threat for several parts of Madagascar. Working with local organizations is now an opportunity not just for the environment, but for our guests to leave their footprint by contributing to a responsible initiative. Five tree nurseries are dedicated to each guest to plant. This helps obtain a kind of forest corridor as well as combining different species to strengthen genes for more resilient trees. Furthermore, it helps sustain the land and compensate bush fire and slash and burn practices. In that present case, the cooperation between an Association in Andasibe called “Mitsinjo” and Malagasya Travel has been undertaken for years and carries on until this present moment.
The SOS Orchid project was inspired by the urgent realisation that Madagascar’s botanical treasures are quietly disappearing. These include orchids, which symbolise delicacy, rarity and resilience. They are now under threat from deforestation, unregulated trade and the gradual loss of their natural habitats. In the face of this reality, Malagasya Travel and the NGO Tilyafo joined forces to create SOS Orchid: a dedicated project that is firmly committed to protecting Madagascar’s biodiversity. The concept is simple yet meaningful. Teams identify, collect and purchase rare and endangered orchids directly from markets where they are at risk of being lost forever. Every orchid rescued is a life saved and a second chance for a fragile species. At specific times of the year, these orchids are carefully replanted in a secure location within the Palmarium Reserve, which provides a natural environment conducive to their survival and growth.
Iconic species such as Angraecum sesquipedale, Aerangis and Bulbophyllum, which are renowned for their high level of endemism, find refuge there. But SOS Orchid’s work doesn’t stop at planting. We regularly monitor the plants to observe their development, adaptation and growth, with a view to conserving them in a sustainable and responsible way. By 2026, the project had collected and planted around XX species of orchid, each representing the hope for a future where Madagascar’s natural environment is protected, respected and valued. Through SOS Orchid, Malagasya Travel and the NGO Tilyafo are reaffirming their commitment to conscious tourism and active conservation. In this approach, every action counts and preserving life becomes a shared mission.
A unique setting: In southwestern Madagascar, the Fonyala Forest takes you deep into untamed nature. Take a stroll among the giant baobab trees and discover the magnificent, unspoilt landscapes. A natural attraction: An unforgettable sunset will be enjoyed from our spot. The view of the entire forest is one of the most beautiful in the region. Exceptional wildlife: Fonyala is home to a remarkable variety of species, including the endemic reptiles Phelsuma standingi, Tracheloptychus petersi and Furcifer antimena, and the rare birds Uratelornis chimaera, Falculea palliata and Monias benschi. Fonyala, a natural haven like no other. Do not miss it!
Sustainable hotel cooperation
Sustainable hotel cooperation
On one hand, working with hotels which meet the standards is a great initiative. But on the other hand, extending more collaboration with those which are recognized as sustainable is crucial. Those which are supporting local benefits such as including local people’s activities in their touristic program or those which are giving importance to the preservation of biodiversity on-spot as well as purchasing foods in the locality for the bio concept as “Souimanga Hotel” in Antsirabe for instance or another one in the south part of the country “Le Paradisier” which has preserved a fauna and flora area where endemic species are found and protected. Other hotels are assisting organizations for the protection of some sensitive and preserved areas.
Medical Operation
Donation and supply
We are supporting non-profitable organizations and associations such as « interplast-Germany help » , which provides free plastic surgery to patients who cannot afford medical treatments in developing countries and “ärzte für Madagaskar” or “Doctors for Madagascar”, another organization in Manambaro-Ford Dauphin which helps people who cannot afford medical care by providing free surgical operation as well each year, keeping an emergency fund to cover medical expenses…
In order to support those Organizations, we provide free German-speaking guide services for translation on-spot, free services by organizing domestic flight bookings, looking for sponsorship to promote their activities, and mainly selling postal cards and stamps to our guests during their tour in order to provide water to the operated people.
Educ'Action
Project for Children’s education
Educ’action is a launching project initiated by Malagasya Travel. It specifically consists in helping single mothers who cannot afford their children’s needs, specifically, in terms of their scholar fees. Our main targets are women who are doing manual laundry and housemaids with low salary. Unemployed women are also included. Only single mothers are concerned. The project directly benefits children in terms of their education as getting out of poverty will be reached only by education. Malagasya financially takes in charge of the project for the moment, but is open to all donations.
